"Greening" neighbourhoods

The Green Scene is an interactive multimedia story that focuses on greening neighbourhoods as part of the energy transition.

Its purpose is to inform people about this specific aspect of the energytransition since the term "green neighbourhood" is still relatively unfamiliar. People often associate this term with solar panels, windmills, and other renewable energy sources, but a green neighbourhood also encompasses green spaces such as postage stamp parks, vegetable gardens, and sedum roofs.

How do citizens feel about this transition? The story follows three households in a neighbourhood called Weltendijk, which is undergoing a "greening" process to become more sustainable.

The Green Scene includes an introduction video and interactive elements that allow users to relate to the characters and gain information about the process. Additionally, the story addresses potential fears or negative aspects that people may have about the transition.

My two colleagues and I conducted research and used our findings to design and code this story. Our team used programming languages such as HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Php to develop the story.
